Here at Evesham Transport Ltd we are proud of our connections to local charities. One of our favourite charities that we love to support is Worcestershire Breast Unit Haven. Today, instead of posting about our business we wanted to shine a light on Haven and the amazing work that they do and to also ask for your help on their behalf.
Who are Haven?
Haven was established in 2016 following fundraising efforts that resulted in the building of the Worcestershire Breast Unit. The role of the charity is to support the unit, working closely with the NHS Breast care team and providing additional help above and beyond what is provided by the NHS.
The charity helps by providing support in the form of live Q&A session with specialists, individual support (in person and online), a monthly support group plus ever-expanding wellbeing services to those who have recently received a breast cancer diagnosis in Worcestershire.
In addition to their support services, Haven also raises funds to purchase equipment and other essentials including mastectomy bras, to improve the quality of care and service to patients in the county. Recent purchases included upgrades to the MRI scanners, 4 compact portable ultrasound machines, tattoo equipment including ink and a chair used in reconstruction, handheld mirrors for consultations and a dedicated garden where patients can relax and wait for their appointments.
Other initiatives supported by the charity are the University of Worcester’s Live Life Well Programme which educates women on how to have a healthy living and the Live Good Feel Better initiative a 2 hour masterclass on how to use skincare and makeup to boost confidence in those living with cancer.
Worcestershire Breast Unit Haven is an independent charity and is completely reliant on fundraising plus grants from local trusts. In order to fully support the needs of breast cancer patients in Worcestershire, Haven needs to raise at least £200,000 per year.
How you can help?
There are so many ways that you can support Haven – here are just a few ideas:
- Donate directly – either via one off donations or a regular monthly donation
- Make Worcestershire Breast Unit Haven your workplace / business’ charity of the year
- Request a pink collection box and collect the pennies
- Get sponsored – Run, swim, dance, walk or abseil and raise money through sponsorship
- Have a Fancy Dress / Dress Down /Wear Pink day at your office
- Host your own event e.g. coffee morning, charity fashion show or sports event

Interested in volunteering?
Worcestershire Breast Unit Haven is heavily reliant on the support of volunteers to increase awareness and raise funds for the charity. If you have a few hours free per month (or more) you could help either as an event volunteer, event organiser, gift gatherer, bucket collector, charity stand volunteer or Pink October ambassador.
